Nevada County, California is a diverse area with plenty of opportunities for Insta-worthy photos. From Tahoe National Forest to the Grass Valley area, there is a lot to do and see all within the confines of Nevada County. Bridgeport Covered Bridge

This beautiful bridge was built by David Isaac John Wood in 1862 with wood from his lumber mill in Sierra County. It has an impressive mix of both arch and combination truss construction and is one of the oldest house spans in the west. The Bridgeport Covered Bridge is also the longest single-span wood-covered bridge in the United States and is a registered Historical Landmark in the state of California. The construction of the bridge itself is a great opportunity for a picture. Also try taking a photo of the bridge’s reflection in the underlying water. That’s truly a unique image!

Donner Lake

Located in Truckee, this beautiful freshwater lake is almost three miles long and over a half mile wide. Parts of the natural lake are over 300 feet deep as well, making it a great spot for fishing. Donner Lake has 37 public piers on its north side that provide plenty of access for beautiful pictures of the blue water and surrounding forest which borders much of the lake. You’ll find plenty of other visitors taking advantage of the swimming, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding, and rock climbing that is available all along this gorgeous lake as well.

Cascade Canal Trail

If you are looking for pictures along a beautiful hiking trail in the forest, look no further than Cascade Canal Trail. Located on Banner Mountain, the trail is a nice walk that is accessible for most hiking levels. Douglas firs and dogwoods line the clean trail that snakes through the dense forest. Views of Nevada City can be seen from certain parts of the trail, making this a popular stop for anyone looking to add natural beauty to their Insta-feed.

Check out all that local farmers have to offer at this popular farmers’ market located in Nevada City. Local farms that specialize in sustainable practices offer produce, honey, and meat to area customers. South Yuba River State Park

California’s first river corridor park spans along the South Yuba River in Penn Valley. South Yuba River State Park was first established in 1986 and is home to the Independence Trail as well as many river crossings that were important in early settler life. The park is more than 22 miles long and stretches from Lake Engelbright’s Point Defiance towards the town of Washington. There are plenty of magnificent rocks and historic river crossings to make a beautiful Instagrammable picture.
