Clavey Vineyards & Wine Tasting Room

Right before the birth of his second son while rafting on Clavey Falls (a Class V rapid located on the Tuolumne River) Marc Orman and his brother Rodger encountered a memorable rafting trip. After being rescued from the all consuming rapid, and living through the experience they were both able to return home to their families. Not soon after, Marc was able to witness the birth of his second son whom he named, Daniel Clavey. While maintaining his love for classic water sports and being an advanced river rafter, Marc Orman decided to name the vineyard after Clavey Falls as well. Owned and operated by himself and his two sons, Joshua and Daniel, Clavey Vineyards is a small boutique vineyard and winery located in the Sierra Foothills near Chicago Park, California. The terrain is known for its warm summer days, cool nights and mild winters. It is a perfect environment for grape vines. Located at an elevation of 2,350 feet above sea level, the vineyard sits on 15 southern exposed acres within the Nevada County lines. Specializing in red wines, our first vines were planted in the spring of 2001 on the eastern portion of the property with Syrah, Sangiovese, and Cabernet Sauvignon varietals. With plans to expand our varieties in the near future, vines such as Zinfandel and Tempranillo will soon be added to our selection
