Yuba-long Among the Wildflowers

It’s spring in Nevada County, and that means glorious warm sunny days, lots of family friendly activities, and a beautiful mosaic of wildflowers!  There are many ways to get up close and personal with the gorgeous flowers that pop up in a display of color every year while remaining socially distant, and all of them are a fantastic way to commune with nature, friends, and family in a healthy manner.

Virtual Daffodil Run April 1-11

The Daffodil Run was created by Joanie Bumpus 20 years ago and is sponsored by the Penn Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, Penn Valley Hi-Graders Lions Club, and Penn Valley Rotary.

Proceeds from the Run support our local schools. A scholarship for a Nevada Union High School senior. Planting daffodil bulb in our community, and supports Western Gateway Park and surrounding areas.

The race will be held virtually, meaning that you can select the time and day that you run one of the events, timing yourself.  After your run you will submit your time to the Daffodil Run website to be scored. They encourage you to run between April 1st and April 11th, but results will only be accepted up until April 11th.
There are two running events, a 5K and 10K. The running events are setup so that runner safety is maintained with as little exposure to traffic as possible.

Visit The Daffodil Run website for more information.
