Holt Ballet Conservatory and the Miners Foundry present Clara & The Nutcracker

Thursday & Friday, December 12 & 13 at 7 p.m., Saturday, December 14 at 1 p.m.; Tickets $22/Adults, $16/Youth 18 and Under

Enjoy a delightful performance of holiday cheer and tradition in historical Nevada City with a beautiful cast of dancers, colorful costumes, magical sets, and the wonderful music of the holidays.  The Miners Foundry offers time-honored hospitality and H.B.C. dancers bring vibrant energy and faithful dedication to the art of ballet and this classical favorite.

“Clara and The Nutcracker” is a delightful version of the classic holiday tale “The Nutcracker Suite” by E.T.A. Hoffmann, featuring choreography by Royal Ballet’s famous choreographer Sir Peter Wright.  The cast runs the gamut, from youngsters making their stage debut as dancers to advanced accomplished dancers performing en pointe, and all levels in between.  Holt Ballet Conservatory’s production tells the tale of Clara, whose Christmas present of a toy nutcracker solider inspires a magical dream for Clara, and an opportunity for classically trained ballet dancers to showcase and share their carefully crafted talent.  Children will be enchanted and adults will be inspired by this performance to remember!

Tuesday, December 31, 9 p.m.; $35/GA, $55/Reserved Cabaret Seating and a complimentary split of champagne.

Ring in the New Year Nevada City style with Love Train and special guest Elevation (feat. J Silk). Love Train is a 6-piece dance band that taps into the same gold vein of 60’s soul and R&B as the Blues Bros and the Commitments. If you attended the Miners Foundry New Year’s Eve Bash in 2018, you will remember them as the opening act. Our audience had so much fun with them, we brought them back for 2019!

Belting out soul hits from Wilson Picket, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, the O’Jays, Sam and Dave, Stevie Wonder and many more, Love Train delivers a powerfully funky vintage soul groove that WILL get you dancing! Guitarist/vocalist Jonathan Lyerly, and bassist/vocalist Karel Hendee are joined by ace drummer Tim Bulkley, and backed by a stellar 3-piece horn section (Phil Kember, John DeBoer and Jerry Grant) who recently appeared with the Temptations!

Opening the show will be local funk favorite Elevation featuring J Silk, a high-energy funk/rock band from Northern California. Their original music was born in the clubs and bars of Grass Valley, Nevada City and Auburn. They are a jam band and a dance band with an emphasis on heavy bass lines and funky grooves. The smooth vocals of front man J Silk and singer Brynn Farwell give Elevation a fresh sound that’s both old school and modern.

Come celebrate the holidays at Miners Foundry for some great Nevada City fun.
