Wild West Fest returns to Tahoe Donner for the second year in a row on Saturday, August 31, from 4-8 p.m. This family-friendly event takes place at the beautiful Alder Creek Adventure Center and Equestrian Center and is open to Tahoe Donner members and the greater community.
Wild West Fest kicks-off at 4 p.m. with the Tahoe Donner Equestrian Horse Show. Attendees learn about different horse breeds and riding styles as the horses show off their skills. The popular Truckee Donner Junior Horsemen Drill Team will follow, performing two arena shows at 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.
A variety of fun western-themed activities will be offered throughout the day including a kid’s craft corral and roping station, pony rides for kids ages 2-6, arena games, and an old West dress-up photo both.
Everyday Outlaw, North Tahoe’s own honky-tonk country music band will be performing live at 5:30 p.m. on the outdoor patio overlooking the mountain meadow. Nominated for Best Country Band in Reno/Tahoe in 2017, Everyday Outlaw knows how to get the crowd on their feet and pull on their heartstrings in the same evening.
“Wild West Fest was inspired by our love of horses, the equestrian lifestyle and the fun we have with our guests every summer,” said Krystal-Rae Mecham, equestrian center manager at Tahoe Donner. “Attendees of all ages will enjoy more entertainment at a lower cost to attend this year. We encourage everyone to join us on Saturday of Labor Day Weekend and experience a bit of the Old West right here in Truckee.”
An optional Western barbeque will be available from 4-7 p.m. at an additional cost. Beer and wine can be purchased separately from the Trailside Bar.
