May the luck of the Irish be with you, may you find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, and may you find the perfect way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this weekend in Nevada County!
Do an Irish Jig
‘Tis at 4 p.m. when the shenanigans begin on Sunday, March 17, at Seaman’s Lodge in Nevada City’s Pioneer Park, with an open session hosted by Strayaway. This year’s celebration proceeds benefit Sierra Harvest, who’s mission it is to “Educate, Inspire, and Connect Nevada County families to fresh, local and seasonal food.” Dinner, served from 5-6 p.m., will feature Guinness Stews, Hearty Veggie Stew, and the trimmings. BYOB, if you please.
After dinner, mistress of ceremonies Maggie McKaig, in her Irish alter ego–she also leads the Euro Balkan quartet Beaucoup Chapeaux–will attempt to manage to get the marvelous lineup of musicians on and off the stage in relatively good speed…as well as play her own set. In order of their likely appearance: the Buffalo Gals; Tom Wernigg; Maggie’s own “mob” with Sally Ashcraft, Sands Hall, Luke Wilson, and Tom Taylor; Ryan Laursen and Ethan Lewis; Scones and Jam; and last but certainly not least, Three Times Through.
The Miners Foundry presents The Garcia Project, performing full, classic Jerry Garcia Band set lists from 1976-1995, plus special guests, Achilles Wheel Trio, in a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration on Sunday, March 17, 2019. With precise arrangements and the proper instrumentation and feel for any and all given eras, The Garcia Project faithfully channels and projects the feelings, emotions and music that propelled The Jerry Garcia Band and the fans through many years of musical bliss. Local favorites Achilles Wheel Trio features Paul Kamm, Jonny Mojo, and Shelby Snow. Food will be available for purchase, as well as a No Host Bar. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the show begins at 7:00 p.m.
