Small Business Saturday
The Penn Valley Area Chamber of Commerce and Penn Valley’s Wildflower Nursery Garden and Gift Shoppe are teaming up once again to promote and present Penn Valley’s annual ‘Small Business Saturday’ day of activities and shopping for Penn Valley. Saturday, November 24, 2018 is now officially designated as ‘Small Business Saturday’ for Penn Valley. Last year’s event proved to be very successful after the prior year’s inaugural event was hampered by very cold and wet weather.
Small Business Saturday is the day following the most popular holiday shopping day in the country, ‘Black Friday’, where people flock to malls and big box stores in droves to become lost in the sea of crowds, traffic, and madness. Small Business Saturday was created in 2010 by American Express to help small businesses do more business. In 2017, an estimated $16.3 billion was spent at small independent businesses on Small Business Saturday.
Wildflower Nursery Garden and Gift Shoppe along with Penn Valley True Value Hardware will be the official ‘Small Business Saturday’ headquarters and host for the Penn Valley Village Center. There will be food and drink provided by Wildflower Nursery as part of the celebration and the Penn Valley Area Chamber of Commerce will be onsite to greet guests and provide information about shopping opportunities and specials throughout the Village Center and all of Penn Valley.
Lists of participating businesses, detailing their special holiday offers and other community information will be distributed at the booth hosted by the Penn Valley Area Chamber of Commerce. Small Business Saturday host, Penn Valley Wildflower Nursery Garden and Gift Shoppe will have a Christmas Tree Lot in full operation and has announced that a portion of the proceeds of tree sales will be donated to help Penn Valley Village Center revitalization efforts. They will have food, beverages, and other treats on hand as well as holiday music throughout the day to enhance the shopping experience. Again this year will be a punch card given to shoppers to have punched at all participating merchants to receive a FREE Christmas Tree ornament and a chance to win a $500 True Value gift certificate. Have fun, shop local and discover more about Penn Valley’s small businesses and all they have to offer!
The topper to this great event and opportunity will be that the day will be capped off by the Martines Family’s 16th Annual Cowboy Christmas celebration at the Penn Valley Shopping Center starting at 4 p.m. Plan on making a day of it at the Penn Valley Village Center and throughout Penn Valley.

The Cowboy Christmas celebration is a perfect way to begin the 2018 Holiday Season and entertain friends and family over the Thanksgiving weekend! On November 24 at 4 p.m., following Small Business Saturday in Penn Valley, the festivities will begin at the Penn Valley Shopping Center.
