Western county dog friendly parks

The President’s Day weekend is almost here, and it would be fun to get your dog out of the house for some exercise with fellow canines. Here are some dog friendly parks to choose from for the long weekend:

Western Gateway Park

Penn Valley 95946

Western Gateway Park Off-Leash Dog Park

Western Gateway Park is dog friendly with lots of on-leash walking trails and open space. Doggie bag dispensers and trash cans are located throughout the park. But the dogs and their people really enjoy socializing at the off-leash dog park.

To get to the dog park, use the west driveway (on the other side of the Disc Golf course) and follow the driveway to the parking lot. There is handicapped parking and bathroom available at the dog park. Bring water for you dog. The park is working on getting water to the dog park by early 2012.

Condon Park Off-Leash Dog Park

The new 1.7-acre dog park within Condon Park opened in November 2011. The designated area for off-leash dogs is located at the end of Minnie Street, near the skate park. The park is fenced, has ADA walkways, benches, parking, water, double entry gates, and a separately fenced area for small dogs. Also, the perimeter trail around Condon Park allows only dogs on leash.
