Nevada City Uncorked

Nevada City’s Victorian elegance provides the perfect backdrop for this sip-and-stroll event taking place from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, that includes 16 different venues featuring local food purveyors and regional wineries. Each venue, whether it’s an historic location, inn, art gallery, restaurant, winery, shop, or secret hideaway will include wine tasting and food sampling.

Uncorked proudly showcases the wines of our north Sierra Foothill region, the best, least-discovered wine region in California. During Uncorked 16 wineries will represent five north Sierra counties including Placer, Nevada, Yuba, Butte, and Tehama Counties. From Albarino to Zinfandel, Uncorked offers a unique gateway to the wines from the north country.

Uncorked is not just about wine. 16 restaurants, caterers, and specialty shops as diverse as a salumeria, a cheesemaker, and a chocolatier will offer an array of tasty bites. Consider creamy honeydew melon soup, pulled pork sliders, pasta salad, teriyaki meatballs, sushi, and raspberry truffles as some of the delectable food choices.

Winemaker Symposium in the Barrel Room

This year Uncorked is adding two new events to the schedule. The first is the Winemaker Symposium panel discussion that takes place in the Nevada City Winery barrel room on Friday, August 24th from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

The symposium features an unscripted conversation with three of our best local winemakers, Mark Henry from Montoliva, Jackson Starr from Sierra Starr and Mark Foster from Nevada City Winery. The panel will be moderated by Rod Byers. The topic for discussion will focus on the future of winemaking in our region and the need, or not, for a flagship varietal.

Winemaker Reception

Following the barrel room discussion there will be a Winemaker Reception upstairs in the Nevada City Winery tasting room.
