Coburn Music, founded by Truckee’s very own Lindsay McIntosh (nee Hollingshead), announces their lineup for inaugural season August 5th-12th, 2017. Shows features baroque performances curated for favorite local venues such as the Cedar House Sport Hotel, Moody’s and Coffee Bar.
Coburn Music opens its inaugural season with a gala showcase on August 5th, at The Cedar House Sport Hotel. In collaboration with their acclaimed restaurant, Stella, this opening Bacchanalian style night will feature curated music and food that will no doubt dazzle your ears and taste buds. From a Gruyere caramelized onion tartine with chopped asparagus paired with the musings of Georg Philipp Telemann’s Trio Sonata in e minor to fried camembert with red currant-cranberry preserve and micro-herb and frisee salad alongside Jean-Baptiste Lully trios written for King Louis XIV himself. Rounding out the night will be a 30 minute showcase performance interviewing Henry Purcell drinking song with Jean-Féry Rebel’s Les caractères de la danse all the while you sip on hand picked wine from owner Patty Baird.
On August 6th, Coburn Music takes to the wilderness with Truckee’s Trails & Vistas to present “Music in the Meadow.” Join them for a personalized and curated hike ending with a live performance fit for a King in Perazzo Meadows. On August 9th at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Coburn Music takes the stage at the iconic Moody’s Bistro, Bar & Beats for a set of Medieval pop songs like you’ve never heard them before. These rarely heard Lays by Guillaume de Machaut were all the rage in 1377. On August 10th at Coffee Bar in downtown Truckee Coburn Music will be presenting a lunchtime concert featuring J.S. Bach’s famous Coffee cantata. This is fun and lighthearted story about a girl obsessed with coffee will transport you back to the 1720’s when coffee was the newest fad in Europe! Friday August 11th at 7 p.m. Coburn Music and Art Truckee join forces to bring you an evening of beautiful songs by Henry Purcell, Claudio Monteverdi and George Frederic Handel all about love, lust and madness; a common theme in the Baroque! Rounding out the series of pop up events is Coburn Music’s last concert at Coffee Bar’s Squaw Valley location with
a two hour set of Georg Philipp Telemann’s Tafelmusik, Tafelmusik literally translating into “Table Music.”Come sip, and sit while being serenaded by Table Music.
