We have so many great wineries in Nevada County, with the vintners typically on site to talk to those who come by about their wines and give you a taste of their hand crafted creations. Unlike Napa and Sonoma, Nevada County’s wine scene is laid back and accessible to everyone from casual wine drinkers to sommeliers.
Along that vein (or vine, as the case may be), there are several great wine events coming up this month that are worth checking out.
Double Oak Vineyards & Winery is holding a Harvest Open House from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, November 5, in celebration of their 31st harvest. Attendees will enjoy fine wine paired with tasty food, fine arts and crafts with the artists and artisans that created them, and live music. There is a great line-up of fine artists and artisans offering a superb choice for unique gifts: paintings, collages, weavings, mosaics, handmade soaps and wooden creations. Tours of the winery and vineyard with vineyardist and winemaker Bob Hilsman are part of the active and interesting events. Special wine sales are offered. All this is accompanied by the delightful music of Jonathan Meredith with his fine acoustic finger style guitar. The price of admission to this Harvest Open House is $7. (Wine Club members & their guests: $5) Admission includes a free logo wine glass. For directions and more information go to www.doubleoakwinery.com.
